William “Bill” Laur DVM, age 64, of North Branch, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.
Bill was born March 24, 1959 to Duane and Ruth (O’Neill) Laur in Marlette, MI. He grew up in North Branch, graduating from North Branch High School with the class of 1977. Bill attended Michigan State University, graduating with Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry in 1981 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.
On December 27, 1986 he married Kimber Persia at the North Branch First United Methodist Church.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and role model. He was an extremely hard working and dedicated veterinarian who cared for animals until his last week on earth. He would not have had it any other way. He loved serving his community as a veterinarian for the last 37 years. Bill was an avid collector of John Deere tractors, both toy and full size. He was also a devoted Michigan State sports fan and collector. He was an active member of the North Branch First United Methodist Church including being chairman of the Administration Board and Lay Leader.
Bill is survived by his wife; Kimber, children; Bryan (Thanh) Laur, Jena (Ben) Dean, grandson; Aiden Dean, brothers and sisters; Diane (Don) Kennedy, Donna (Mike) Seeley, Dan (Marlena) Laur, Doris (David) Hill, Dale (Patty) Laur and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Branch First United Methodist Church.
Family will be present for visitation Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 5 PM to 8 PM. Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 2 PM to 8 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Visitation Friday, August 4, 2023 from 10 AM to 11 AM with funeral service 11 AM at the North Branch First United Methodist Church, Rev. Theodore Alkins officiating. Burial following at Westlawn Cemetery North Branch.
