William “Bill” Caldwell, age 70, of North Branch, passed away on April 5, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. Bill was born on June 7, 1951, at his grandparent’s home in North Branch, the son of Lloyd and Thelma (Hodges) Caldwell. Bill grew up in North Branch and was a 1970 graduate of North Branch High School. He proudly served his country for 9 years in the United States Army. On September 8, 1984, Bill married Kimberly Sweatland at the family home on Ward Road. He retired in 2009 from the Lapeer County Road Commission, the North Branch garage as a grader operator. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, playing cards and driving around the country side. Bill loved his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kim, his son Kyle Caldwell of North Branch, his son, Robert Caldwell of Germany and his daughter, Laura Biehn of Germany, his 7 grandchildren, his sister, Donna (Lynn) Gates, his brother-in-law, James Osborne, his brother-in-law, Greg (Barb) Sweatland, his nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Loraine Osborne and his brother, Dan Caldwell.
Visitation for Bill will be on Monday, April 11, 2022, 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.11:00 A.M. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Ronald Hutchinson will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post #457.
