Ward Laur, age 87, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at his home with his loving family by his side. Ward was born on March 30, 1933, in North Branch, the son of Eric and Georgena (Ralph) Laur. He was a 1951 graduate of North Branch High School. He played on the high school basketball and baseball teams.
On September 19, 1953, Ward married Beverly Patrick at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in North Branch by William R. Doe, uncle of the bride. He retired in 1984 from LSH & TS (Oakdale) ILapeer. Ward enjoyed building and remodeling houses, farming, watching sports and most of all spending time with his family.
Ward is survived by his wife, Beverly of 67 years; his son, Jeffrey (Jill) Laur; his daughter, Rhonda Laur; his grandsons, Jason (Katie) Laur and Jered (Amanda Slack) Laur; his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kenzie; his sister, Bonnie Schoenbaeck of Bradendenton, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Maxine Gatcitell and his brother Dorland Laur.
Graveside services for Ward will be on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Rich Cemetery. Pastor Joseph Schierlinger will be officiating. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
