Thelma Bertee

Thelma Bertee, age 96 of Columbiaville, formerly of North Branch passed away on July 29, 2022 at Stonegate Health Campus. Thelma was born on May 23, 1926, in North Branch, the daughter of Ernest and Edna (Brink) Peet.  Thelma grew up in North Branch and was a graduate of North Branch Schools.  On December 15, 1945, she married James Bertee.   She worked in Dr. Greavu’s office as a receptionist. Thelma was a pianist at the North Branch Wesleyan Church for many years and was one of the founding members who started the church. Thelma was an amazing cook, knitted many slippers and was a gifted letter writer. She enjoyed camping with the entire family at Rifle River Campground. Thelma was an amazing grandmother who loved each one of her grandchildren equally and enjoyed watching them grow into young adults.

Thelma is survived by her children, Karen (Doug) Tuttle, Phyllis (Bill)  Kalbfleisch and Bob (Therese) Bertee, her 9 grandchildren, her 19 great-grandchildren, her sister, Dorothy Barrett, her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, her grandson, Todd R. Bertee, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Virginia Peet, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Rosalee Tatar and brother-in-law, Alton Barrett.

Memorials in Thelma’s name may be made to North Branch Wesleyan Church or Kindred Hospice.

The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.  at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home    with funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Peter Damaska will be officiating.  Thelma will be laid to rest next to her husband at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
