Ted Davis Obituary

Ted Davis, age 92, of Davison, formerly of North Branch, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Americana Seniors of Davison. Ted was born in North Branch on August 19, 1929, the youngest son of Leonard and Clara (Wangerin) Davis.  Ted graduated from North Branch High School with the class of 1947. Ted, whose five brothers served in the military during WWII, was proud to have served in the army during the Korean Conflict. He completed his under graduate studies at Ferris State College and graduate studies at Eastern Michigan and Wayne State Universities. After completion of college, Ted married the former Shirley Snow in 1958. Ted pursued in career in education as a Co-op Coordinator at Robichaud High School in Dearborn Heights and later at John Glenn High School in Westland. Ted retired from teaching in 1985 and considered himself fortunate to be able to return to North Branch and spend several enjoyable years as an employee at M.K. Chambers Co. Ted was a member of the American Legion Post 457, a volunteer at the North Branch Thrift Shop. He helped disperse the NB Community Newsletter for several years. Ted was honored by being chosen as the Grand Marshall for the 2011 Fourth of July Parade. He was an active member of the NB Alumni Association. His major undertaking since 1990 was the organization and compilation of every North Branch Graduate since the school’s origin in 1890.  This project contains not only the names of over 10,000 graduates but 99% of their pictures.

 

Ted is survived by his son, Todd Davis of Clifford, MI, his Daughter Tracy (Brian)Clark of Texas, his grandsons, Jeff Zahniser, Joshua (Kristina) Clark, his granddaughter, Jessica (Daniel) Stoia, his great-grandchildren, Aidan Zahniser and Mackenzie Zahniser, his sisters-in-law, Joyce Davis, Margurite Davis and Barbara (Howard) Thorpe, may nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents, his sisters, Marjorie and LaVern, his brothers, Garland (Edith), Harold, Granville (Patricia), Gerald (Marilyn) and Robert.

 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to North Branch American Legion Post 457 or the North Branch Thrift Shop.

The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel Martin Funeral Home. On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, visitation will be 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service at 2:00 P.m. Rev. Ronald Hutchinson will be officiating. Ted will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post 457.
