Shanon Marie (Freehling) Sylvester

Shanon Marie Sylvester, 48, of North Branch went peacefully to her heavenly home   on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 and into the arms of Jesus with family and friends by her side. Shanon was born on October 12, 1977 in Tawas City, the daughter of David and Maureen (Boensch) Freehling. Shanon grew up in AuGres and was a 1995 graduate of AuGres-Sims High School.  She graduated with a bachelor’s degree with honors from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. On June 25, 1999, Shanon married Charles Sylvester in AuGres. Shanon worked as a secretary at North Branch Area Schools, at an automobile dealership and as legal secretary.  Shanon enjoyed coaching, training and playing softball. She was an active member of the North Branch Wesleyan Church, where she loved mentoring to the Awana Club. Shanon loved spending time with her family. She loved life to its fullest.

Shanon is survived by her loving husband, Charles, daughter, Ashlyn, son, Tyler, mother, Maureen Freehling, father, David Freehling, grandmothers, Alice Freehling, Yvonne Boensch, siblings, Ryan ( Stephanie) Freehling, Greg (Jessica) Freehling, Brad Freehling, aunts and uncles, Chris (Debbie) Boensch, Larry (Roxanne) Biskner, Sherry Boensch, RG Boensch, Sharon Boensch, Dan (Cindy) Augustine, Brian (Tracey) Freeling, brothers- in-law, Ronnie (Jennifer)  Sylvester, Jerremy (Jennifer) Sylvester, uncle and aunts, John Sylvester, Fred Kubik, Kamlin (Marsha) (Smith many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Clarence Freehling, Robert Boensch, Uncle Jeff Boensch, cousin Derrick Lushnat, mother and father-in-law, Jim and Maragaret Sylvester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at North Branch Wesleyan Church with funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Jason Cullin will officiate.
