Ruth Ann Richard, age 82, of Sterling Heights formerly of North Branch, passed away on February 25, 2022 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital with her family by her side. Ruth was born in Caro, MI, on January 6, 1940, the daughter of Frank and Jean Frances (McCloy) Nagy. She graduated from Fairgrove High School in 1958. Ruth graduated from Bay City Junior College in 1960 as a LPN. She paid her own way thru college to earn her degree. She worked four years at Suncrest Hospital in Lapeer. While employed at Suncrest, a coworker mentioned that she had a single son, Frank Richard. She then ran into Frank while she was out with her girlfriends in Lapeer that would eventually become Lake Inn. They started dating and became engaged four months later. They were married on February 8, 1964 at the Fairgrove Methodist Church.
Ruth and Frank raised their family in North Branch, where they maintained the family farm, where her husband was born until 2019. She grew a large asparagus patch and would trade vegetables with neighbors. She enjoyed collecting coins, silver sets and jewelry, playing bingo and casino slots. She was a “vicious” euchre player and enjoyed trivia contests while living at Town Village Independent Living Facility. Ruth was an avid market investor and reader. She traveled and visited 23 countries.
Ruth is survived by her children, Frank J. Richard, Francine (Robert) Ignasiak, Frances (Michael) Stites and Rebecca Richard; her grandchildren, David Stites, Rachael Stites and Hannah Stites; her siblings, Marian Chambers, Robert Nagy and William Nagy; her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2019, her parents, her siblings, Frances Nagy and James Nagy.
Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the North Branch Thrift Shop.
Visitation for Ruth will be on Thursday, 11:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M., March 3, 2022 at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service at 1:00 P.M. with the family officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband at Greenwood Cemetery.
