Ronald “Ron” Rappuhn, 72, of Brown City, passed away March 4, 2023, at his home. Ronald was born January 17, 1951 in Mayville, MI, son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Koehler) Rappuhn. He was a graduate of Lapeer High School, class of 1969. Ron grew up in Almont, but later moved to Lapeer. He worked for General Motors until his retirement. His love of music was the driving force in his life. He began picking the guitar strings at a young age after his parents bought him a guitar from a mail order catalog. His talent developed which led him to become a part time entertainer with his longtime friend of 52 years, Joe Childers. Along with a drummer, their music took them to different areas in southeast Michigan over the years to entertain with their rock and roll music. He was also a member of the band Southern Breeze. In addition to music, Ron took pleasure in carpentry work and painting. In his later years, he battled with Parkinson Disease, but despite the toll it took on him, he never lost his kindness for everyone that crossed his path. He will be missed by many.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters, Shawn (Joe) Metzger and Michelle (Louie) Torres both of Lapeer, son, Anthony Rappuhn of Peculiar, Missouri, grandchildren, Joey, Shelby, Jacob, Wyatt, Ryder, Tripp, Rhett and Morgan, sisters, Linda (Richard) Baker of Imlay City, Shirley (Richard) Ogden of Capac, brother, Fred (Lois) Rappuhn of Irons, MI, sisters-in-law, Janice Rappuhn Bax of Attica, Marilyn Rappuhn of Waterford, MI, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold, Bill and Tommy.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, visitation 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M., memorial service at 4:00 P.M., live music to follow until 10:00 P.M. at Washakie Golf & RV Resort, 3461 Burnside Road, North Branch, MI.
