Ronald "Ron" LaMarra

Ronald “Ron” LaMarra, of North Branch passed away peacefully at his home, September 2, 2023, at the age of 72. Ron was the third child of Anthony and Angelina LaMarra being born in Detroit and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan.  He attended Warren High School and after high school worked for his Uncles’ Pacific Cement Co. until he was accepted into Ferris State College.  There, Ron studied diesel mechanics and upon completion with his diploma in hand, began his career as a diesel mechanic, first for International Harvester and later for the Detroit Newspaper Agency working at the North Plant.  Ron’s true main love was that of farming.  He looked forward to retiring so that he could put all his efforts into raising his Black Angus cattle and growing the crops necessary to care for his herd.

When Ron was younger, he traveled with a friend all across the United States, a trip he had planned for some time.  When Ron got older he loved visiting Italy with his Uncle Benny, helping cousins crush grapes for wine and press olives for oil, He embraced being Italian and loved telling stories.

Ron was married to Barbara for 20 years until their divorce. The marriage produced two children, Sarah (Tony) and Michael (Heather). Ron is survived by his two children, two grandsons, Wade and Pierce, older brother, Ray LaMarra and younger sister, Rosemary Baschal (Karl), three nieces and 2 great nieces and one great nephew. He leaves behind his special friend, Lynn.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Theresa.

The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Per Ron wishes, there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ron’s name may be made to the Lapeer County Future Farmers of America.
