Robert "Bob" Leo Smoke

Robert (Bob) L. Smoke, age 71, of Fostoria, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Bob was born on February 6, 1948 at the family home on Burnside Road in North Branch, the son of Leo and Margaret (Clark) Smoke.  Bob grew up in the North Branch area. He was a 1966 graduate of North Branch High School. He married Ruth Gessert, the love of his life, on September 21, 1968 in Sandusky, MI. They enjoyed 51 years of married life together. Bob retired from Pontiac Motors after 35 years of service. He was a Journeyman pipefitter.  Bob’s favorite pastimes were making knives, shooting pistol, reading Clive Cussler books, telling jokes, watching Jeopardy and John Wayne movies. His most favorite was spending time with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Ruth ; his children, Jennifer (Frank) Podczerviensky of Herndon, Virginia, Robert Smoke Jr. of Fostoria and Sarah Smoke of Fostoria; his sister, Mary (Karl) Theeuwes of Lapeer and his grandchildren, Jessica and Marissa Foster of Virginia. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Smoke (2011), his father, Leo Smoke (1961), his mother Margaret Smoke (1990) and his brothers Clark and William Smoke.

Memorials may be directed to the family for Special Olympics Area 13.

Visitation for Bob will be on Sunday, December 22, 2019, 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Funeral service for Bob will be on Monday, December 23, 2019, at 9:00 A.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  Pastor James Saatkamp will be officiating. Bob will be laid to rest next to his son, Daniel, at Stiles Cemetery in Lapeer, MI.
