Richard McDonald, 81, of North Branch passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026 at his daughter’s home in North Branch. Richard was born on March 23, 1945 in Pontiac, MI, the son of Edgar and Edna (Lendzian)+
McDonald. Rick grew up in the Troy area. Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. On March 22,1986 he married Nancy Grodi in Lake Orion. They just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Rick retired from union Local 190 as an underground gas line welder. Rick enjoyed tinkering in his barn, welding random things together and going to classic car shows. Rick was a lifelong member of the VFW. He was a great husband and a loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, daughter, Jennifer (Don Barry) Page, granddaughter, Mikaela (Matthew) Hosner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sibling, and his son-in-law and best friend, Farrel Page.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
Visitation for Richard will be on Thursday, April 9, 2026, 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Rev. James Houbeck will officiate. Richard will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post 457.
