Richard G. Jean Sr, 83, of Kalkaska, passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Midland on October 24, 2025. Richard was born in Detroit on August 1, 1942, the son of Cyril and Sylvia (Petterson) Jean. Richard grew up in Redford Township. Richard retired from Detroit Edison as a substation operator. On May 12, 1960, he married Patricia Broski at the Salem Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio. Richard enjoyed deer and duck hunting in his younger days. He loved sailing his sail boat, tinkering with electronics and operating his amateur radio.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, sons, Richard Jr (Cheryl) Jean, Paul Jean, Michael (Jill) Jean, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, his parents, brother, Cyril Jean Jr and sister, Doris Space.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Paradise Animal Rescue, Lapeer, MI.
The family will be present for visitation on Saturday, November 1, 2025, 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Joseph Schierlinger will officiate. Richard will be laid to rest next to his son, Christopher at Westlawn Cemetery in North Branch.
