Randall “Randy” Bennett, 71, of Lapeer passed away at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Randy was born on November 8, 1953 in Brown City, the son of Earl and Sharon (Matthews) Bennett. Randy grew up in North Branch and attended North Branch High School graduating in 1971. Randy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era as a Sergeant and later 30 years in the Michigan National Guard. Randy retired from the City of Lapeer, with 30 years of service, where he was a Department of Public Works supervisor.
Randy enjoyed life to the fullest, playing his guitar, woodworking, loved cooking as a line cook at several different restaurants, riding his motorcycle, fixing old classic cars, tinkering with electronics, even building computers. He also enjoyed reading, telling his family stories and sharing his wisdom, but his true pride and joy in life was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Randy is survived by his daughters, Nicole Bennett, Angela (Mike) Howard, stepdaughter, Melissa (Aaron) Husted; grandchildren, Hannah, Reese, Lucas, Mason, Grace, Riley, Liam, Makenna, Ryan, Morgan; sister, Wendi Hurley; brothers, Scott, Tim, Barry; sister-in-law, Carol Bennett; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tracy and Jeff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Branch American Legion Post 457.
The family will be present for visitation on Thursday, August 21, 2025, 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Friday, August 22, 2025, visitation will be 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Celebrant Sue Shoemaker will officiate. Randy will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post 457 and other military personnel.
