Paul James Martus

Paul Martus, age 71 of North Branch passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at McLaren Lapeer Hospital.  Paul was born January 13, 1948 in Marlette, the son of Edwin and Geraldine

 ( Kaufman) Martus. Paul graduated from Brown City High School in 1966 and continued his education at Chicago DeVry Institute, where he received his bachelor degree in Electrial Engineering. Paul married Janet Ziesmer on April 12, 1969.  They celebrated 50 years together and had three lovely daughters.

Paul loved to participate in the parties back by the well known as Martus Pond. He enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Teresa (Rob) Langenderfer, Heather (Jeremiah) Salmon, and Melinda (Jeff) Smith. Grandchildren, Roman, Mason and Ella Langenderfer;  Miah and Anna Salmon; Cole, Ben, Adam, Evelyn Smith and their foster son, David Brackens.  Paul is  also survived by many sisters, brothers, and family members on the Martus and Ziesmer family; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made by planting a tree in his honor or make a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital. 

Visitation will be Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM and 5 to 8 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  On Monday, August 12, 2019 Paul will lie in state from 10 to 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  The Mass will follow at 11:00 Am.  Father Muma will officiate.
