Norman Glen Edwards, age 76, of North Branch, passed away peacefully at his home on November 6, 2025. He was born on October 3, 1949, in Prudenville, Michigan. Norm married Patricia Nordin on July 17, 1970, and together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage before Patricia’s passing in 2023.Norm was a devoted father and grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family—especially watching his grandchildren play sports. He was their biggest fan, always cheering them on with pride and encouragement. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Norm was an avid supporter of the Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions, rarely missing a game. His love of sports extended beyond watching—he was an all-state basketball and baseball player at North Branch High School, where his athletic talent, leadership, and sportsmanship left a lasting impression. Norm later shared his love of the game as a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) referee for 20 years, continuing his passion for sports and mentoring young athletes. In addition to his love for team sports, Norm had a passion for golf. He spent countless hours at Washakie Golf Course, where he played in the league for many years and also worked. The friendships he built there and the joy he found on the course were an important part of his life. Norm will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His steady presence and gentle nature will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Kelly and Alissa (Schillinger) Edwards, and Kevin and Joni (Buono) Edwards; his beloved grandchildren, Peyton, Isabella, Haidyn, and Jacquelyn; and his siblings, Joyce Foster, Karen Conrad, Bryan and Linda Edwards, and Tom and Onalee Ruddy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Edwards, and his parents, Warren and Thelma Edwards. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Blackburn Chapel Martin Funeral Home in North Branch on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with gathering of family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Norm will be laid to rest with Pat at Westlawn Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Branch Athletic Boosters.
