Nina Onysimivna Marku, age 84, of North Branch formally from Ukraine, passed away on November 23, 2022 at her daughter’s home with family by her side. Nina was born in Hrebinka, Poltava Oblast, Ukraine, on March 18, 1938, the daughter of Onysim and Hanna (Kulinich) Yatsenko. Nina grew up in Ukraine and was a very hard worker. She worked in a factory, in the dairy business and for the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs. She received the Veteran of Work Award for many years of working past the retirement age. Nina also received the title “Child of War” for her life on the front lines during World War II. Nina helped many family and friends who were in need. She was always there.
Nina is survived by her daughter, Oksana (Brian) Diring and her grandchildren, Danilo and Yesenia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Irina Marku, her sisiters, Natasha Kosolopova and Praskovya Kolpachnikova and her brother, Mikola Yatsenko.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Nina will be interred with her daughter in Ukraine,
