Nana Ruth McDowell, 92, of Fostoria passed away on June 26, 2026 with her family at her side at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. Nana was born on June 18, 1934 in Columbiaville, the daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Cutting) Pierson. She grew up in Columbiaville and was a 1952 graduate of Columbiaville High School. On June 28, 1952, Nana married Lee McDowell in Columbiaville. Nana retired from North Branch Area Schools as a teacher’s aide. Nana was a girl scout leader. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, camping, reading and playing bingo. Nana loved her family. She looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great-children.
Nana is survived by her children, Rick (Martha) McDowell, Randy (Phyllis) McDowell, Rod McDowell, Roxanne Gobbi, Rhonda (Philip) Braidwood, 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister, Patricia Baker, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandsons, Richard and Jeremey Fosdick, son-in-law, Bob Gobbi
The family will be present for visitation on Monday, June 29, 2026, 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Tuesday, June, 30, 2026 visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. with funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Roger Keur will officiate. Nana will be laid next to her husband at Rich Township Cemetery.
