Morse Tackett, age 79, of North Branch passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, MI. Morse was born on March 26, 1942 in Jonancy, Kentucky, the son of George Miles and Sarah Elizabeth (Damron) Tackett. Morse grew up in Kentucky. On April 8, 1967, he married Loraine Adamic at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in North Branch, MI.
Morse was a true American military man. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for six years, the Army Reserves for six years, and later retired from the Army National Guard at the age of 60. He was a past Post Commander of American Legion Post #457. Known as “Mr. Fix-it” to his family, he was a problem solver and a master of redneck engineering.
Morse is survived by his wife, Loraine, his children, Carol Arman, David Tackett and Maria (Jon) Brennan, his grandchildren, Hannah (Justin) Giles, Krista Arman and Lily Brennan, his sisters, Virginia, Bonnie and Oma and his brothers, Ray and Bud. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Sarah and Edith and his brothers, George and infant Roy.
Memorials may be directed to the North Branch American Legion Post #457 and St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Thursday, January 13, 2022, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Scripture Service at 11:00 A.M. Deacon Peter Lynch will officiate. Morse will be laid to rest at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post #457.
