Melvin Joseph Schank

Melvin Joseph Schank, age 45, of North Branch passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI. Melvin was born on May 5, 1975 in Lapeer, MI, the son of Arthur and Betty (Secord) Schank.  He grew up in North Branch at the family home on Lake Pleasant Road. He attended North Branch Area Schools and was a 1994 graduate.  On March 22, 2019, Melvin married Carisa Crittenden at the courthouse in Lapeer, MI. He worked many years at MK Chambers and later at Vidon Plastics.  Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. In his spare time, he rebuilt small engines and restored cars while listening to Old Country Music.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Carisa; his daughter, Brooke, his sons, Michael, James and Gabriel; his step-daughter, Kari; his honorary daughters, Emii and Kimmy; his mother, Betty Schank; his brothers, David (Barb) Schank and Orrie (Trish) Schank; his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncle and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and infant sister Cheryl.

Per Melvin’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Melvin’s life will be held later this year with a pig roast and a large family get-together.
