Mary Elaine (Olson) Cheney

Mary Cheney, age 78, of North Branch passed away Thursday, February 02, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

Mary was born on May 03, 1944 in Detroit, to Wilbur and Betty (Compte) Olson. Mary grew up in Ortonville and then moved to North Branch, graduating from North Branch High School in 1962.  On May 21, 1962, Mary married Henry Cheney I in Lapeer, Michigan.

Mary was a homemaker.  She loved crocheting, knitting and sewing.  She also enjoyed the outdoors gardening, bird watching fishing and her pets.

Mary is survived by her children; son-in-love Todd Enright, Mary Balkevitch, Becky and (Todd) Kleinknecht, Henry Cheney II, Pam and (Dennis) Garrett, Ivi and (Ryan) Goss, and Violet Cheney.  Sisters; Lura (Gene) Strauel-Schiermeyer, Phyllis (Paul) Haack, brother Tim and (Margaret) Olson, and Al Castle.  Grandchildren, Brian and Tami, Heidi and Michael, Becky Sue, Heather, Brandi, Dustin, Kevin, Kyle, Rachel, Stephanie, Henry Junior III, Tyler, Katie, Elizabeth, Rose, Thomas, Jacob and Vincent and 31 great grandchildren (and 1 on the way), special friends Jenn and Courtney, Jimmy Goss, Sean Blasius and Little Lady her puppy.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Henry Cheney I, her parents, daughter Corinne Enright, daughter-in-love Jennifer Cheney,  sister Millie Castle, and special friend Scott Walthers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

 The family will be present for visitation Friday, February 10, 2023 from 2PM to 8PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  Visitation Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 4PM to 5PM at First Baptist Church of North Branch, the funeral following at 5PM, Pastor Josh Gates officiating.

Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Greenwood Cemetery in North Branch.
