Marjorie A. Dhooghe, 89 of North Branch passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. Marjorie was born in Flint, MI on July 13, 1935, the daughter of Howard and Abbie Jane (Kehoe) Grooms. She grew up in the Brich Run area and was a graduate of Birch Run High School. On January 21, 1956, Marjorie married Charles Dhooghe. A marriage which lasted 60 years until Charles’s death in 2016, living on the family farm on Clear Lake Road instilling the value of farming life. Marjorie was a bus driver for North Branch Area Schools. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Marjorie was a very giving person. There were many treasured family times in the neighborhood, the Dhooghe home was always open for family, friends and neighbors to come together to visit.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Jane (Gary) Swoish, her sons, Jim (Debbie) Dhooghe, Joe (Kathy) Dhooghe, Mike (Tonya) Dhooghe, her daughter-in-law, Beth Dhooghe, 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Jane Allen of Clio, MI, Judy Henderson of Oklahoma, Lisa Thum of Vermont, many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, son, Patrick Dhooghe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Branch Knights of Columbus
The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, 2:00-8:00 P.M, at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. On Thursday, June 5, 2025, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Richard Treml will officiate. Prayers of Committal will be conducted by Deacon Peter Lynch. Marjorie will be laid to rest at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery next to her husband.
