Mario Fantin, age 81, of North Branch passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at McLaren Lapeer Region. Mario was born on September 27, 1940 in Fanzolo, Italy, the son of Natale and Edevige (Miatello) Fantin. Mario was proud of his Italian heritage. He graduated from North Branch High School. On October 24, 1964 he married the love of his life, Linda Traubenkraut at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mario worked as a millwright at General Motors for 43 years. He was a member of the North Branch Knights of Columbus Council 9568.
Mario and Linda loved to spend their winters in Florida. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his friends, gardening and making wine. Mario loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a very social person that enjoyed kidding around and making people smile.
Mario is survived by his children: Natalie (James) Howard, Beverly (Steven) Kuznicki, Daniel (Donna) Fantin and Thomas (Angie) Fantin, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his brothers: Giovanni Fantin, Carlo (Chris) Fantin, sisters-in-law; Carol Fantin and Pat Fantin, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda, sons: John Fantin and Michael Fantin, siblings: Maria Buono, Bruno Fantin, Danilo Fantin and Ernest Fantin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Federation of the Blind.
The family will be present for visitation on Sunday, October 10, 2021, 2:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. with rosary at 5:30 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Monday, October 11, 2021, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Sama Muma will officiate. Mario will be laid to rest next to his wife at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
