Marilyn “Jean” Andersen, 86, of Fostoria passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital with her family by her side. Marilyn was born in Detroit on April 15, 1938 the daughter of Edward and Flossie (Hilts) Brunett. Marilyn grew up in the Fostoria area. She was a 1956 graduate of North Branch High School. On November 26, 1960, she married Douglas Andersen in Fostoria. Marilyn was a homemaker and later went to work for Gwinn’s Hardware in Lapeer. Marilyn enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo, playing cards, sewing and baking. She loved going salmon fishing with Douglas at the Two-Hearted River and going snowmobling.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Kathy (Ronald) Respecki, Kim (Vince) McNish, Todd (Alison) Andersen, Tim Andersen, her grandchildren, Adam (Diana) Respecki, Nicholas (Ashley) Respecki, Danille Hopkins, Eric Hopkins, step, Josh McNish, Jamie (Austin) Timmerman, Jordan McNish, Patricia Andersen, Emily (Jon) Sauve, Erin Andersen, Selena Andersen, her great-grandchildren, Carter, Madison, Grant, Quinn, Rowan, Cameron, Blake, Emmitt, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, Bradly Respecki, her parents and all of her siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilyn’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hosptial.
The family will be present for visitation on Friday, May 17, 2024, 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service following at 12:00 P.M. Chaplin Rod Sanderson-Smith will officiate. Marilyn will be laid to rest at West Deerfield Cemetery next to her husband.
