Marie Braidwood, age 78 of North Branch passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Devonshire Retirement Village of Lapeer. Marie was born July 12, 1941 in Marlette, the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret (Kreiner) Doherty. Marie grew up at the Burnside Corners on the Doherty Farm with her sisters and brothers. Marie graduated from Brown City High School in 1959. On May 14, 1960 she married Charles Braidwood in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Charles preceded her in death in 2015. Marie was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Marie volunteered her time with the North Branch Boosters, Girl Scouts, and the American Red Cross and many other organizations. Marie was an avid reader, loved to watch sports, dancing, making quilts, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She was very proud of her family and her grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her children; Colleen Braidwood, Chris (Tom) McNulty, Theresa (Don Lamb) Koehler, Marian (Gene) Somerville, Chuck (Brian Mailley) Braidwood, and Philip (Rhonda) Braidwood; grandchildren, Patrick (Stephanie) McNulty, Keely (Luke) Engelhardt, Ethan, Ian and Calla McNulty, Niklous Koehler and Alexander(Andrea) Koehler, Abbey (fiancé Zachary Englelhardt) Braidwood, Hannah (Matthew) Burnor, and Lucas Braidwood; sisters, Ann Morey and Helen (Randy) Armstrong; brothers, Larry (Sandy) Doherty, Jim (Sue ) Doherty, Allen (Brindy) Doherty, and Dennis Doherty, in-laws, Doris (Jerry) Strich and John Braidwood; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, brother-in-law Ronald Morey, sisters-in-law Denise Doherty, and Sharon Braidwood, and her parents-in-law Winship and Margaret Braidwood.
Memorials may be made to Devonshire’s Life Enrichment and Activities Fund.
The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and a rosary at 7:30 P.M. both at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 31, 2019 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. Rev. Richard Treml will officiate.
