Margaret Dorothy Sanford, age 91 passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Marlette Long Term Care with her family by her side. Margaret was born at the family home in Silverwood on October 28, 1929. She was the daughter of Henry and Katherine (Beller) Gorde. Margaret grew up in the Silverwood area. She married John “Jack” Sanford on November 25, 1950. She worked at Chaso-Royco. Margaret enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking for her family, feeding and watching the birds. She helped cooked the dinners for the North Branch American Legion for their monthly meetings. She loved spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bill Jones) Sanford, Martha (Duane) Misener, Kathy Freeland, Laureena Hass, Crystal (Mark) Chapin, Glen (Cheryl) Sanford and Leonard (Cindy) Sanford; her 16 grandchildren; her 37 great-grandchildren; her 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and very close friends, Virginia Adamic and Mary Guigar. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, James, her great-grandson, Dustin Horne, her sisters Gladys, Bernice, Donna and her brother John.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Marlette Long Term Care or St. James Lutheran Church, North Branch.
Visitation for Margaret will be on Thursday, February 11th, 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Visitation on Friday, February 12th, 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at St. James Lutheran Church with funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Terry Balogh will officiate. Margaret will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rich Cemetery.
