Lula Mae Quertermous of Fostoria passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 at the age of 85 at Lapeer County Medical Facility. Lula was born on November 5, 1939 in Young Harris, Georgia, the daughter of Worth and Ella (Puett) Sampson. Lula grew up in Georgia, in her teen years the family moved to Pontiac, Michigan. Lula attended Pontiac High School where she was on the basketball team. Lula married John Quertermous on December 12, 1959. She worked as a food manager at K-Mart in Lapeer.
Lula enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Lula loved taking care of people. She was a special caregiver to her mother and mother-in-law. Lula also loved taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Lula is survived by children, Danny (Julie) Quertermous,Teresa (Brett) Rosenberg, Jeffrey (Tamara) Quertermous, grandchildren, Amanda (Brian), Jacob (Kenzie), Sarah (Joe), Joshua (Erika), Chelsea, 4 great-grandchildren, sister, Glenda (Jerry) Cypret. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings, Donald Sampson, Edna Nelson, Tommy Sampson.
The family will be present for visitation on Friday, April 11, 2025, 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 P.M. Pastor Nathaniel Gwinn will officiate. Lula will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rich Township Cemetery.
