Luis Cartagena Ortiz, 68, of Davison passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Luis was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on January 12, 1956, the son of Pedro and Evangelia (Ortiz) Cartagena. He grew up in Puerto Rico and spent his summers in the United States. At the age of 18, Luis moved to Michigan. On June 25, 1999, he married Nancy Cichoracki in Lapeer, MI. He worked at Rubber Enterprises as a machine operator.
Luis enjoyed biking, watching wrestling and spending time outdoors tending to his flower beds. He loved the time spent with his grandbabies.
Luis is survived by his wife, Nancy, children, Carlitos Cartagena, Dora Ortiz, Shawna Arreguin, Cassondra Cartagena-Ortiz, Marissa Oritz, Luis Ortiz, siblings, Rosa Cartagena, Felix Cartagena, Gloria Cartagena, Carlos Cartagena, in-laws, Pamela Martin, Luann (Mike) Holcomb, Linda Goss, many grandchildren and one great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Lucretia Cichoracki, brother, Pedro Cartagena, Sisters, Isabella Cartagena, Carmen Cartagena, brother-in-law, Glen Martin, nephews, Anthony Goss, Glen and Nicholas Martin,
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
The family will be present for visitation on Saturday, September 7, 2024, 11:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Anthony Velez and Pastor Toni Colon will officiate. Luis will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in North Branch.
