Leo J. Heatley, age 94, of Louisiana, formerly of North Branch, MI, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 at Hospice of Baton Rouge, LA. Leo was born on February 15, 1926, the son of Harry and Martha Heatley. Leo grew up in North Branch, MI and was a 1945 graduate of North Branch High School. On September 27, 1947, Leo married the love of his life, Virginia June Harris in North Branch, MI. Leo was a farmer and a truck driver. He was a member of the North Branch Masonic Lodge #312 and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Vidalia, LA. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leo is survived by his son, Lester (Linda) Heatley of Yuma AZ; his sister Dorothy (Paul) Tripp of Lapeer, MI; his grandsons, Joshua Heatley, Eric Heatley, Matthew Heatley, Lee Brown and Anthony Willin; his granddaughters, Monica Griffith-Braud, Jennifer Daigle and Tami Heatley; 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents and daughter and son-in-law Ardis (Percy) Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Susan G. Komen.
Leo will be laid to rest at a later date in Westlawn Cemetery in North Branch, MI. Rev. Ronald Hutchinson will say the prayers of committal. We will update the website on the date and time.
A Celebration of Leo’s life will be held on July 25, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Deerfield Township Hall.
