Kenneth R. Harmon, age 86, of North Branch, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. Ken was born in Arcadia Township on August 15, 1933, the son of Burley and Erma Mae (North) Harmon. He grew up in the Lum area. Ken married Dorothy Klauka on April 7, 1956.
He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He was stationed in Germany as a Tank Sgt. Ken retired from Pontiac Fisher Body after 30 years. His job was putting windshields into the vehicles. Ken loved his deer hunting and fishing. He also fixed up old lawn mowers is his spare time.
Ken is survived by his children, Keith (Barbara) Harmon, Steven Harmon, Dale (Jennie) Harmon; his daughters-in-law, Kathy Harmon and Laurie Harmon; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his brother, Vernon (Dorothy) Harmon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sons Roy Harmon and Gary Harmon; his siblings,Ivaline, Melvin, Wilma, Bernard, Betty, Beverly and Earl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family.
A private family gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Ken will be laid to rest next to his wife, Dorothy, at West Deerfield Cemetery.
Pastor John Chippewa will do the committal service at the cemetery. A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held later this year.
