Kelly Joan Martus, 61, of North Branch passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital with her family at her side. Kelly was born on December 26, 1962 in Detroit, the daughter of Fredric and Joan (Tabaka) Long. Kelly spent her younger years growing up in Livonia until the family moved to Brown City when she was a freshman. She was a 1981 graduate of Brown City High School. On April 25, 1986, Kelly married Wayne Martus at St. Mary’s Burnside Church. Kelly was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. Kelly loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Kelly is survived by her husband, Wayne, daughter, Frankie (Ryan) Schank, son, Keegan (Chelsey) Martus, grandchildren, Peyton, Maverick, Dakota, Josie, Alena and Kane, sister, Robin (Donnie) Kennedy, brother, Stretre (Brandy) Long, nieces, nephews, and the Martus family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Martus, infant brother, Scott Long.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kelly’s name may be directed to the Gift of Life Michigan, 3861 Research Park Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 or Paradise Animal Rescue, 2266 N. Lapeer Road, Lapeer, MI 48446.
The family will be present for visitation on Monday, March 25, 2024, 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, visitation will be 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with Funeral Service at 12:00 P.M. Deacon Peter Lynch will be officiating. Kelly will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Burnside Cemetery.
