John Paul Barr of North Branch, MI passed away on May 18, 2026 at 80 years of age. A Vietnam Veteran, his great love for his country and family never wavered. He is survived by his sister Kathy Kemp, his brother Christopher Barr, his four daughters Rebecca Barr, Josephine Skoudis, Vanessa Ritchie and Melisa Vaught, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
John lived his life fully and on his own terms. In his earlier years, he spent much time tooling around on his motorcycle or cruising in his sports car. His love of all things outdoors also kept him active and adventurous. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, cycling and coaching softball. In his later years, he took great pleasure spending many hours mowing his lawn and maintaining his yard. He spent the last 15 years growing his own gunsmith company. His playful attitude and subtle humor—even in the hard times—managed to make everyone smile. He will be forever missed.
Cremation has been entrusted to Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. John will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at a later date with military honors.
