John Joseph Adamic, age 91, of Silverwood, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. John was born in Detroit, MI, on December 4, 1929, the son of John and Gertrude (Travnikar) Adamic. He spent his early years in Detroit until 1940 when his family moved to North Branch. John married Virginia Klauka on July 29, 1950. They celebrated 70 wonderful years together this past July. John was a farmer his entire life. John was a Charter member of the Imlay City Knights of Columbus. He once served as a Grand Knight of the Council. He was also a member of the Lapeer Elks and Eagles.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Robert (Ann) Adamic, Barbara Whitwell and Edward (Sandy) Adamic; his grandchildren, Norman (Amanda) Adamic, Thomas Adamic, Lisa (Trey) Bazinaw, Elizabeth Whitwell, Steven (Grace) Adamic, Katie (Matt) Grabowski and Andrew (Taylor) Adamic; his great-grandchildren, Amelia Adamic, Vera and Henry Bazinaw, Logan and Jacob Adamic, Rayna, Ellie and Maddie Grabowski; his sister, Loraine (Morse) Tackett; his sister-in-laws, Virgina Adamic, Doris Nellenbach, Norma Smith and Janet (Fred) Butler; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Adamic; his brothers, William, Daniel and Norman; his brother-in-laws, John Nellenbach and Philip Smith.
Memorials in John’s memory may be directed to United Hospice Services of Marlette, Knights of Columbus Council 4556, or SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
Visitation for John will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M., at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Richard Treml officiating. John will be laid to rest at West Burlington Cemetery.
