Jerriene Ione (Potter) Woodrow (88) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August, 31, 2023. Jerriene was born on September 23, 1934 to Beatrice (West) and R. Duane Potter and was raised near Hadley. Jerriene married Frederick Woodrow on January 16, 1954. She and Fred raised three daughters in the home they personally built near Columbiaville.
In her younger years, Jerriene wished to be a wonderful wife, terrific homemaker, outstanding mother and grandmother. She fully succeeded at those youthful aspirations. Her kitchen skills were beyond compare and particularly her desserts, which were in high demand at all functions. No one can get things whiter in the wash than mom and her house always smelled wonderful! She and Dad set an example for all of us in being a spouse and parent. She did work as her daughters grew and had excellent reviews from all jobs she ever had. She left the business world in 1977 to devote herself to the care of her daughter after an accident in which Sherrie suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. Jerriene was Sherries’ patient advocate in all ways for 34 years. She was instrumental in the formation of the Michigan Head Injury Alliance and in developing training and protocols for TBI caregivers. Her life was a testimony to love, faith, faithfulness, and integrity.
Jerriene was an active member of People Baptist Church and the Daughters of American Revolution until disease made it impossible to continue. She was a loving “dog mom” to Jack, Baby, Moppet, Fritz, Katie and Heidi, each in their own time. Jerriene was a helpmate to Fred as they managed a small orchard, as well as honey and maple syrup production. She was an avid gardener with gorgeous, winding flower gardens around their home. Jerriene was a competitor and excelled at Scrabble particularly. It was a challenge to play against her.
Jerriene is survived by (daughters) Elizabeth (Ricky) Files and Janet Boyns, (son-in-law) Larry Lamphier, (7 grandchildren) Jennifer Lamphier Siem (Tony), Katie Harris Millwood (Allen) Jeremy Boyns (Stephanie), Joshua Boyns (Lisa), David Harris (Leigh), Shannon Files Key (Alan), Tamra Files, (siblings) Barbara Arms and Jason Potter, (sisters-in-law) Thelma Woodrow, JoAnn Woodrow and Marilyn Potter. She goes to heaven leaving 16 great grandchildren and 10 great-great- grandchildren along with any beloved nieces and nephews. Jerriene is preceded in death by (husband) Fred Woodrow, (daughter) Sherry Lamphier, (son-in-law) Sam Harris, (parents) Beatrice and Duane Potter, Mike and Edna Woodrow, (twin sister) Jean Wildey, (brothers-in-law) Milt, Bob, Charlie, and Bill Woodrow, Ray Wildey and Alan Arms, (sisters-in-law) Iva, Eileen and Betty Woodrow.
