Jean A. Curell, age 93 passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her home with her family at her side. Jean was born on March 29, 1927 in Brown City, MI, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Hall) McLeod. Jean was a 1945 graduate of North Branch High School. On September 18, 1947, she married Max Curell in Lapeer, MI. After the wedding, the reception was held at the family farm. Jean was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her children, Gary (Linda) Curell, Larry (Trudy) Curell, Dennis (Sue) Curell, Darlene (Robert) Lott, Delwin (April) Curell, David (Annette) Curell and Thomas (Phyllis) Curell; her grandchildren, Bradley (Gina) Curell, Valerie (Jason) Freiburger, Curtis (Jennifer) Curell, Erica (Dan) Jackson, Craig (Jennifer) Curell, Carrey (Bill) Weidenaar, Scott (Tina) Curell, Todd (Molly) Curell, Jennifer (Philip) Waltz, Joshua (Sara) Lott, Josie (Scott) Baltree, Jared (Leah) Lott, Brent (Karrie) Curell. Jeanette (Chris) Terbush, Benjamin (Kyla) Curell, Allyson (Anthony) Passwaiter, Kimberly Curell, Ryan (Emily) Curell and Kaitlyn (Tyler) Harless; her 63 great-grandchildren; her brother, Henry McLeod Jr; her in-laws, John Dallas (Elizabeth) Curell, Lawrence(June) Curell, ,Janet Curell and Mary Hobson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max , (2003) her parents; her sisters, Virginia Goodrich and Donna Beebe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the North Branch Wesleyan Church or the Gideons.
Jean’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at West Deerfield Cemetery. She will be laid to rest next to her husband. Pastor Peter Damaska will be officiating.
