Henry (Hank, Bud) Allen McLeod, Jr. passed away on May 21, 2024. Born on November 16,1932 in Brown City, MI, the son of Henry Allen Sr. and Bessie Mae (Hall) McLeod. They soon moved to the Silverwood area where he lived the rest of his life. He attended North Branch Area Schools and graduated in 1951.
Henry married Janet Myers on August 11, 1951. Janet passed away in 2017. He was a devoted husband and great Dad. He always supported his children in whatever they endeavored to do.
Henry worked as a machine fabricator at Mar Foam in Marlette for 26 years and then as an inventory manager at McInally Electric of Lapeer until he retired. He was quite the builder, building their own home, fabricator, problem solver, mentor and repairer of just about anything. Henry was proud of his 8N Ford tractor that was purchased by his father in 1950 and he used it on his own hobby farm.
Spending time in the outdoors with family and friends made Henry happy. He enjoyed many memorable fishing trips to Atlanta, MI, Canada and the U.P. He was a member of the “Halfway Club” near Wetmore, MI where the family spent many summer vacations and he annually attended deer camp. He even spent his 91st birthday at deer camp with four generations present. Henry also enjoyed researching McLeod genealogy and many relatives consulted with him on their branch of the family tree. He loved learning about new technologies and wasn’t afraid to use them. And most of all, he loved telling jokes, teasing, visiting and making new friends. He always had smiles and good words for and about everyone.
Henry is survived by his children, Dan of Manistique, Barry (Denise) of North Branch, Calvin (Nancy) of Mayville and Tim of Millington. His grandchildren, Casey (Adam) McLeod-Buresh, Ryan (Tara), Jeremiah (Amy), Justin (Brenda), Holly (Alex) Barsamian and Travis (Jessica) and his nine great grandchildren; Mallory, Leland, Waylon, Elodie, Ty, Grace and Ethan McLeod and Leah and Eric Henry Buresh. Special cousin/friend/honorary brother, Jim (Jean) McLeod, many family members, friends and dear friend George Maynard.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, daughter Janene, daughter-in-law Robyn, his parents and sisters Virginia Goodrich, Donna Beebe and Jean Curell and special cousin Dale Payne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kingston Wesleyan Church or Fishers Senior Care of Mayville.
