Guntis Terauds, age 77, of North Branch passed away at his home on Friday, November 6, 2020. Guntis was born on December 25, 1942, in Riga, Latvia. He was the son of Janis and Austra (Vecvanags) Terauds. He was a graduate from North Branch High Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for four years. Guntis graduated with a master’s degree from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas. He retired as an analyst from U.S. Department of Energy. He also was a substitute teacher for North Branch, Imlay City and Lapeer County Vo-Tech Schools. He enjoyed classical music, flying, sailing and nature.
Guntis is survived by his son, Gil (Kristin) Grey: his grandchildren, Kylie Grey and Gavin Grey; his brother, Uldis (Marina) Terauds; his sister, Daina (Dan) Wade; and his nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marcis "Mark" Terauds.
Per Guntis wishes cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
