Genevieve E. McLaughlin, 93, of North Branch passed away peacefully Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. Born July 18, 1930 to William and Udell (Wilson) Dennis. “Jenny” graduated from North Branch High School in 1949. She married John McLaughlin September 2, 1950 at North Branch’s First United Methodist Church. A dietitian at the Lapeer Regional Hospital for 10 years. Jenny also work with her husband John as custodians for the North Branch Wesleyan Church and School for over 30 years.
Jenny enjoyed playing cards, going to the Brass Lamp with John for coffee and visiting with friends. Most of all, Jenny loved spending time with her family, especially her grand, great, and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Hyde, grandchildren: Jennie Papke, Cindi Schlicht, Charla Pauley, great-grandchildren, Savannah Schlicht, Michael (Faith) Papke, Megan (Jacob) Schlaud, Nikolas Schlicht, Paul Pearles, Peyton Pauley, Madison Pauley, her great-great-grandchildren, DeClan Schlaud, Adalynn Schlaud, Malcolm Papke, Ollivander Papke, many nieces and nephews and her friends at the North Branch coffee shop. She is preceded in death by her husband, John, daughter, Evelyn “Toby” Grunenwald, granddaughter, Tara Ann Papke, son-in-law, Wallace Hyde, her parents, her siblings, Mabel Cichoracki, Irene Dennis, Joyce Conley, Dorothy Schlaud and Clare Middleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.
The family will be present for visitation Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 4-8pm at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, visitation will be 10-11am at the North Branch Wesleyan Church followed by the funeral service at 11am officiated by Pastor Jason Collin. Jenny will be laid to rest next to her husband at Westlawn Cemetery.
