Geneva Johnson, 91, of Fostoria passed away at McLaren Flint Hospital on March 8, 2024. Geneva was born in Lapeer, on March 4, 1933 to John and Bertha (Johnson) Cole. She graduated from Lapeer High School in 1951. She married Max Johnson in Lapeer on April 12, 1952. She lived in Lapeer County her entire life and also spent a few winters in Florida in her retirement years. Geneva worked as a telephone operator in Lapeer prior to her marriage. She was not only a wonderful mother and house wife, she also helped run the family farm and later owned and ran an AFC home until her retirement. Geneva was a kind and beautiful woman who was appreciated, cherished and loved by her family and friends. She loved her family unconditionally and enjoyed the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook her homemade meals and bake specialty cakes and pies that were always something the family enjoyed and looked forward to. She enjoyed watching the Grand Ole Opry, the Detroit Tigers baseball games and tv game shows. Her hobbies included doing word puzzles, playing games on the iPad, playing cards, fishing and traveling.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: sons, Kenneth (Ruthann), Kevin (Rachel), daughter, Ronda (Kenneth) Wickham, daughter-in-law, Lorraine (Scott) Swoish, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, sons, Keith and Dean, daughter, Beverly, two great grandchildren, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
The family will be present for visitation on Friday, March 15, 2024, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Saturday, March 16, 2024, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at Blackburn Chapel Martin Funeral Home with Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Jason Cullin officiating/
Geneva will be laid to rest at West Deerfield Cemetery next to her husband.
