Francis Fred Pasternak

Francis Fred Pasternak Jr., age 73, of North Branch passed away on Saturday,  October 17, 2020 at McLaren/Lapeer Region Hospital.  Fred was born at the family home on February 6, 1947, the son of Fred and Louise (Diller) Pasternak Sr.  Fred grew up in the North Branch area. He was a 1966 graduate of North Branch High School. He proudly served in the National Guard 1970-1976.  Fred worked for North Branch Area Schools as a custodian, maintenance man and bus driver.  

On  March 14, 2010 , Fred married Deborah Gilbride at the family home in North Branch.   He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and spending time up north. He loved time spent with his family and harassing his brother.

Fred is survived by his wife, Deborah; his son, Paul Pasternak; his daughter, Tina Santacruz, her sons, Clayton Gish and John (Nicole) Gish; his grandchildren, Peyton, Emma, Lilly, Braydon, Kaylee and Brennan; his great-grand-daughter, Liberty:  his mother, Louise Pasternak; his brother, John (Tammy) Pasternak; his special brother, Jos (Regien) VanBerckel; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Pasternak.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Visitation for Fred will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020, 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. at Hope Community Christian Church in Marlette. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Paul Rohling officiating. Friends and family are welcome to attend. If you are attending the service suggested parking is on the west side of Main Street.

"LAST CALL" Thursday, October 22nd, at 8:20 A.M. at the elementary school, then a bus parade downtown North Branch in memory of Fred.
