Floyd H. Young, age 76, of North Branch (formerly of Oxford) passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital. He was born May 25, 1942 at his home in Oxford, MI. Floyd was the son of Clare Franklin and Frances Winifred (Cowell) Young. Floyd grew up in the Oxford area and was a 1961 graduate of Oxford High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1964. Floyd retired as a machinist and later umpired parochial school softball games.
Floyd’s favorite hobbies were watching Nascar races and participating in the pits in Florida, umpiring, singing in the church choir and watching the reruns of the Three Stooges. Floyd had a love for gospel music and especially his love for his Lord. He was a member of Fostoria Baptist Church.
Floyd is survived by is his daughter, Kimberly Ann Cronkright of Utica; his grandchildren, Amber Lentz and Jacob Utley; his great-grandchildren, Maddox, Milah, Melody, Savannah and Maelynne; his brother-Clare Daniel Young; his sisters-Sharon Lee Adams and Karen Ann Holcomb; and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers-James Young and Maurice Young and his sisters Barbara Sprague and Janice Young.
Family will be present for visitation on Saturday, May 4, 2019, 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Steven Henry will be officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post #457 after the funeral service. Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. at a later date.
