Florence A. (Roberts) Hogan

Florence A. Hogan, age 97, of North Branch died Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at  Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, Saginaw., MI. Florence Alice Roberts was born on April 14, 1925 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She married James Hogan in Detroit, MI on October 5, 1946.  The three Hogan Brothers bought a farm and North Branch, MI became the family home.

She was devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. She was an avid reader and very community-minded.  She was a key volunteer for school and church activities for many, many years.  Even after she could no longer do the work, she often made anonymous financial contributions to church and community causes.  After her husband’s passing, she traveled the world with friends and family, always eager to learn and see new things and places.

Florence is survived by her children, John (Phyllis) Hogan of Marquette, Linda (Bob) DeTavernier of North Branch and James II (Diane) Hogan of North Branch, her 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James and son, Michael

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family Literacy Center of Lapeer to help others love reading as much as she did.

Her visitation will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00  P.M. Visitation on Thursday, May 26, 2022, 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Sama Muma will be officiating. Florence will be laid to rest next to her husband at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, MI.
