Eric George Mayberry, 47, of North Branch, passed away unexpectedly on December 13th, 2025. Eric was born at Lapeer Hospital on October 30th, 1978, to parents George and Rosemary Mayberry. Eric (aka Uncle Strawberry, Doughboy, and Chatty) was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Rosemary, and his brother Chris Dhooghe. He is survived by the love of his life, best friend, and long-time partner, Amanda Cline, brother Thomas (Debi) Dhooghe, and sister Vicki (Duane) White. Nephews Thomas Jr (Nikki) Dhooghe, Chris White. Nieces Tiffany (Kevin) Kreiner, Heather (Michael) Dhooghe, Alicia (Matt) Wagner. Great Nephews Kody, Aiden, Owen, Thomas. Great Nieces Cori, Karli, Kennedy, and many cousins and friends.
In his spare time, Eric and his best friend of over 40 years, Mike Peplinski, enjoyed venturing on golf outings and Grateful Dead concerts. Eric had a deep love for golf, the Michigan Wolverines, and the Detroit Red Wings (because Amanda made him). He was also a reluctantly devoted cat dad to Smokey, Monty, and Bear. Eric was an incredible cook. He devoted many of his fondest years to the North Branch Bar & Grill, which he credited for giving him his passion for cooking. He especially loved working with his good friend Brenda. Eric was also known as Chatty because he loved to talk and argue his points endlessly with his family and friends. He was a light to those he was close to, and his laughs and humor will be sorely missed.
Cremation has been entrusted to Blackburn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch, MI. The family will begin receiving visitors at 9:30 a.m. An internment will take place at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery following the service. A luncheon will be held after the service at Keenan Hall in North Branch.
