Edward Allen May, age 83, passed away on September 18, 2024 at the Villages, Fl after an extended illness. His wife, Carolyn and his sons were at his side. Edward was born on January 26, 1941 to Walter and Margaret May. He was born and raised in the Mt. Oliver section of Pittsburgh, PA. Edward graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1958. Edward also attended Duquesne University. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Edward married Barbara Lentz in Pittsburgh April 1963 and moved to Detroit, MI to work at Ford Motor Company before starting his own company, Albar Industries Inc. in 1969 in Troy, MI. After a few years of company growth, he moved his automotive plastics finishing company to Lapeer, MI in 1984. Albar recently celebrated its 55th year in business. Edward and Barbara had previously moved to North Branch, MI in 1973. His wife, Barbara died in 2005 and he subsequently remarried a second time to Carolyn Papierski in May 2011. Edward was a world traveler and loved to share his experiences having visited many major countries and all the continents. In August 1991, He happened to be visiting Moscow when the Soviet tanks rolled into Red Square and the Soviet Union Coup occurred.
Left to cherish his memory are Edward’s sons Christopher (Kathleen) May and David May, stepsons Mark (Margaret) Papierski and Bryan Papierski, “adopted” Russian daughter Irene (Mack) Davison, his grandchildren Patrick (Brittany) May, Breanna May, Erin May and Courtney (Michael) Palumbo. 3 great grandchildren Joshua, Mason and Madison. Siblings Juanita Lichalk, MaryAnn (Michael) Elliott, Joseph (Janet) May and Lawrence (Linda) May. Edward has many loving nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Margaret May, Sister Lois Fair, Brother-in-Law Ronald Lichalk, Nephews Matthew Fair and Ronald Lichalk Jr. and Niece Katie May.

The family will be present for visitation on Sunday, September 22, 2024, 1:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, 4216 Huron Street, North Branch, MI 48461. Monday, September 23, 2024, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Burnside Catholic Church, 5622 Summers Road, North Branch, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Richard Treml officiating. Internment services after the Mass will be at St. Mary’s Burnside Cemetery (directly across the road from the church on Summers Road).
