Douglas D. McInally, age 86, of Frankenmuth, formerly of North Branch, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. Doug was born on December 18, 1933 in Flint, MI, the son of Hersey and Marvel (Werle) McInally. Doug grew up in the Silverwood/North Branch area. He attended North Branch Area Schools and was a 1952 graduate. After graduation, Doug worked for GM for one year, then he enlisted into the Navy. He served on the U.S. Ingersoll. After 2 years of proudly serving his country, he returned to GM and retired in 1987 after 36 years. Doug enjoyed rebuilding Farmall tractors. He was a member the Gera Tractor Club. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 229 and the VFW Post 4139, where he served as a commander. He enjoyed spending time outdoors. Doug had strong work ethics. He took loving care of his wife and her daughter, Sharon. He loved spending his retirement winters in Florida. He was a very social person. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Douglas is survived by his children, Kimberlee (David) Dumbrell, Kraig (Melisa) McInally, Kenneth McInally and Kelli (Sam) Herr; his grandchildren, Lyndsey (Dr. Jon) Wolocko, Kaitlin (George) Sovinsky, Arin Wright, Kraig Ryan (Stacey) McInally, Adrienne McInally, Kennedy Herr, Zane (Amber) Herr and Tayah Herr; his 4 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanne, her daughter, Sharon; his brothers, Dar McInally and Don Grill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the VFW #4139 of Lapeer, MI or the American Legion Post 229 of Frankentrost, MI.
Visitation for Douglas will be on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at
11:00 A.M. at Westlawn Cemetery. Pastor Korte will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Please bring your lawn chairs and umbrellas. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 229.
