Douglas Kaufman, age 93, of Brown City, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital. Doug was born on February 25, 1927, the son of Enos and Louise (Doebler) Kaufman. He grew up in the Burnside area. Doug was a 1945 graduate of North Branch High School.
On December 30, 1988, he married Genevieve Kreiner at St. Mary’s Burnside Church. Doug was a dairy farmer. He farmed along with his brother Tony for many years. Doug enjoyed hunting especially rabbit hunting, playing cards, bird watching and traveling. Doug was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Burnside and a 61 year member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4556 of Imlay City.
Doug is survived by his special nephew “son”, Jesse (Amber) VanBuskirk; Jenny’s children, Carol (Dale) Cronce, Barbara Rexin, Lynn Kreiner and John (Angel) Kreiner; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his special canine companion, Sue. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny; his parents; his siblings, Anthony Kaufman, Helen VanBuskirk and Geraldine Martus; sons-in-law, Raymond Kreiner and Wayne Rexin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital.
Visitation for Doug will be on Sunday, June 14th, 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel Martin Funeral Home. On Monday, June 15th, visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Burnside Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. Father Sama Muma will officiate. Doug will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Burnside Cemetery.
