Donald Whittkopf, “Farmer Don,” age 87 of Clifford passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the McLaren Oakland Lake Orion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Don was born July 16, 1936, in Capac. Don grew up in the Capac area and was a 1952 graduate of Capac High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Don worked as a mechanic and once owned his own gas station and motorcross race track. Known in the area as “Farmer Don” he owned and operated Sunrise Nursery in Clifford with Connie Proulx, his long time companion.
In addition to Connie, Don is survived by son, Donald (Karen) Whittkopf Jr., daughter, Donna Sierakowski, 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and brother, David (Joan) Klug. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl (Sass) and Bill (Willard) Klug, sister, Janet, beloved Aunt Goldie and Grandma Sass and granddaughter, Serena Whittkopf.
The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Joseph Schierlinger will be officiating. Don will be laid rest at West Burlington Cemetery.
