Donald “Don” Doran, 85, longtime resident of North Branch passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at his home with his loving wife by his side. Don was born on December 12, 1938 in Saginaw, MI, the son of Clarence and Arthella (Bork) Doran. On August 10, 1963, Don married his sweetheart Sally Kaniszewski. They celebrated nearly 61 years of marriage and had four wonderful boys. Don served his country for 6 years in the United States Air Force as security. After that, he spent his days as a delivery driver for various companies and later retired. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was an active member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. In his spare time, he enjoyed trips in the RV, playing cards, Nintendo and going to the casino. But mostly he loved to be with his family and was always quick to tell you the best stories and the most infectious laugh.
Don is survived by his wife, Sally, sons, Daniel (Susan) Doran of Decateur, AL., Michael (Maria) Doran of Homestead, FL and David (Julie) Doran of Silverwood, MI. He was a proud Grandpa to 8 grandchildren and Great Grandpa to 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Arthella Doran, son, John Doran, two brothers and one sister.
In keeping with Don’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be present for a memorial gathering on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Sama Muma will officiate. Don will be buried at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery in North Branch. Military Honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post 457. He has earned his wings.
