Donald Chesley Bridges, 90, passed away November 24, 2020, in Rochester, Michigan after a brief illness and complications of COVID-19.

He was born July 16, 1930, to James Estabrooks Bridges and Lillian Bridges, in New Brunswick, Canada. He moved to Michigan when he was one month old.

He graduated from Royal Oak High School and served in the United States Navy from October 25, 1948 through October 25, 1949, as a Weatherman.

He married Margaret “Peggy” Connelly Brooks on January 28, 1950. They were married for 46 years, raised 4 children, Paul, Bob, Nancy and Lori, and treasured time with their 9 grandchildren. He enjoyed family camping, golfing, stream fishing and deer hunting, whether it was with a bow or a rifle.

He worked as a tile setter, and, with his friend and business partner Doc Tenjeras, opened Bridges-Tenjeras Insurance Agency in Rochester, Michigan, retiring 22 years later. He was a member of the Lion’s Club in Rochester, Michigan.

He married Adeline Catherine Reisig on June 7, 1996. They retired to Brooksville, Florida in 1999, living in the Brookridge Retirement Community, on the golf course. They were avid golfers and enjoyed a variety of activities with numerous friends and family. Don started golfing at 15 years old and was still golfing at 90. They returned to Rochester, Michigan in 2019 to be closer to family.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Adeline Reisig Bridges; sister, Kay Ralston; children, Paul (Paula) Bridges, Bob (Linda) Bridges, Nancy (Al) Timmer, Lori (Mark) Buchanan; and Adeline’s children whom he loved as his own; Vance (Aimee) Reisig, Beth (Joen) Bodtker and Kristin Reisig. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces and their families, 6 step-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandson, and a host of friends.

There will be no services due to COVID restrictions. A private burial will be held.
