Dione Amaral Azevedo

Dione Amaral Azevedo, age 82, of Warren, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday July 29, 2023. She was born February 7, 1941 in Saire, Bezerros, Pernambuco, Brazil, the daughter of Jose D’Azevedo e Silva Junior and Maria das Dores Amaral. Dione was raised on her parent’s family farm and had 13 siblings.

Dione married James Robert Linck on November 21, 1979 in Oak Park (Oakland County), Michigan.  They made their home in Warren, Michigan where they raised their two beautiful children. Dione was first and foremost a devoted mom who was always encouraging, supportive and loved spending time with her kids. Dione also cherished her brothers and sisters in Brazil and kept in close contact with them. She had a tremendous faith in God and was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Warren and a member of a Christian prayer group that she attended each week. She is also a Founder of the Brazilian Cultural Club of Detroit. Dione will be missed by all and her beautiful smile and loving embrace will never be forgotten.

Dione is survived by her husband James and their children: James A. and Melina A.; her siblings Rui (Edna), Rene (Eliane), Rosilda (Fernando), Raul (Maria de Jesus), Maria de Lourdes (Eugenio), Maria Auxiliadora, Francisco de Sales (Solange), Romero (Maria da Conceicao), Raquel, Jaidenise and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria D’Azevedo; stepmother, Jaidenise; Emiliana (Nana) and siblings Lucia (Jairson), Raul (Maria de Jesus), Veronica (Luiz) and Romulo Gustavo.

Visitation for Dione will be from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. Father Richard Treml will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM followed immediately by a burial service at St. Mary’s Burnside.
