Diane Marie (Leja) Emrick

Diane Marie Emrick, age 72, of North Branch passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center. Diane was born on June 21, 1951 in Detroit, the daughter of Walter John and Theresa Rose (Walewski) Leja. Diane grew up in Detroit and was a graduate of Pershing High School. Diane worked at H & R Block for many years, later she retired from Wal-Mart. She was a people person and loved everyone she met. Her Wal-Mart customers were like family to her. She enjoyed crocheting, sudoku puzzles and watching Law and Order. She was a number person, figuring out numbers in every scenario, if it was doing taxes or times and dates.  Diane was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments and loved attending all their school activities.  Her big hugs and infectious smile will be missed by all.

Diane is survived by her children, Lori (Cory) Blue, Gregory Emrick, Lindsey (Barry) Rusk; her grandchildren, Molly, Julian, Talan, Monroe, Peyton; her sisters, Charlene (Robert) Pasternak, Pamela (Bernard) Steinhebel; her best friend, Magi Bish and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Walter Leja and her Godmother, Lottie Podczerviensky.

A family gathering will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Saturday, December 9, 2023 a gathering will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Richard Treml will be officiating.
